Issambard Kingdom Brunel

Issambard Kingdom Brunel was a famous civil engineer. He built bridges, dockyards, the combustion engine, boat propeller, the tram and the first major British railway. He was born on the 9 Th. of April 1806 in Port Smith and he died on the 15 Th. of September 1859 in London.
Brunel father was a French royalist who lived from 1769-1849 he was also a famous civil engineer.Who built the first under water tunnel.Brunel was educated in France at the age of  14. Brunel got elected a fellow of the royal society in 1830 and six years later got married to May Elizabeth Horsly on the 5 Th. of July 1836.In 1837 had their first child Issambard Brunel junior 1837-1902, five years later they had their second cild Henry Mac Brunel 1842-1903 and in 1847 they had their third child Florence Mary Brunel 1847-1876.Henry Marc Brunel became a successful civil engineer.
Brunel also built SS Great Britain the first ocean going ship that was also the first ship to use a propeller as propulsion it was launched 19 Th. july 1843.She was 322ft long, had a width of 50ft and had a top speed of 11 knots. She cost a ton of money 117,000 pounds which is 226,722.60 dollars that is enough money to build a very big house. She sank in 1886.Brunel built a second ship called the Great Eastern a passenger liner that carried 4,000 passengers in style. At 700ft she was by far the biggest ship ever built. Her top speed was 14 knots which was also quite quick she was launched 31 January 1858.
I find Brunel inspirational because he was injured many times early in his carer but kept on going determined to be a cvil engineer his determination paid off he became one of the most successful engineers in history and earned the name, the father of the industrial revolution.
In my opinion he is one of the greatest men who ever lived he built one of the most well known British railways in the world and built two well known landmark ships set for future engineers and invented a quick way to get around an 18th sentry town.He died at the age of 53 and is buried in Green cemetery in london.
